Frequently Asked Questions 

• Continuity: With Teneille partnering with you without your pregnancy, you won’t have to tell the same story over and over! She will know where you are at and can regularly check in on your wellbeing. There is so much research that shows that women who have a known care provider all throughout their pregnancy have better health outcomes for mother and baby!

• Home visits: This means no long wait times and your appointment will be held in the comfort of your own home at a time that suits you. There will be no long travel or waiting times and no dragging the other children out with you! 

• Accessibility: You have access to your midwife in between visits! Teneille is happy to answer any questions or concerns you have or even do an extra visit if required.

• No! You can simply contact Teneille and arrange your first appointment! As she has a collaborative agreement with a GP/Obstetrican, so no referral from your GP is necessary.

• All services and prices are listed on Coffs Coast Midwifery website or socials. If you have Medicare, you are eligible for a rebate, making antenatal and postnatal visits to be approximately $70 out of pocket. 

• No! As Teneille is an Endorsed midwife, she has extra qualifications which means she can order pathology, radiology and prescribe medications. 

• The choice is yours, but as soon as you know you are pregnant you can give Teneille a call. She can order all relevant blood tests to confirm the pregnancy and start caring for you straight away! 

• Yes! Teneille will organise a one off “booking in” visit at the hospital, but otherwise you do not need to have your care with another provider. With your consent, Teneille can discuss any care needs with a GP Obstetrician and can refer to other healthcare providers as required. Teneille will refer you to the hospital for any urgent treatment. Once you are discharged home Teneille can visit you and provide support for you as often as you would like as you settle in with a new baby!  

• At this stage there is no insurance available for midwives providing home birth services. As a result, Teneille has chosen to focus on providing high quality antenatal and postnatal care. If home birth services are something you would like, she can put you in contact with a homebirth midwife.
