Antenatal care

Teneille will visit you in your home throughout your pregnancy at a time to suit you! No travel time, long waits at a clinic or dragging the toddlers out with you! The first visit is a longer 90 minute booking in appointment, to meet each other, take a full history, order and review pathology and ultrasounds, and plan your care needs. Teneille will give you a copy of the schedule of visits which roughly outlines what will be covered at each appointment, however this is very flexible depending on your needs.

All antenatal visits to the home are approx. 45-60 minutes in length, except for the 28 week visit which is a 90-minute visit. However, if you need more time, Teneille can schedule more 90-minute appointments for you. All visits include information sharing, education, opportunities to ask questions and of course checking on you and your baby including listening to your baby’s heartbeat from 14 weeks. You are able to contact Teneille between visits, and there is no cost to you for phone consults (bulk-billed).

Teneille can provide referrals with your consent at any time if required. If you have Medicare, then the out-of-pocket cost or gap for each appointment is $80 (You pay the full fee then get the Medicare rebate back into your bank account). If you have reached the Medicare safety net, then your appointments will be cheaper as you will get a higher Medicare rebate.

Labour & Birth Support

It is so important to have a strong support team surrounding you as you approach the labour and birth of your baby. This way you feel more confident and empowered! Teneille offers labour and birth support within the hospital. This support is either being present during labour and (vaginal) birth or can be support before and after your elective caesarean to calm your nerves and help you settle in with your new baby. These roles are currently a support role only, meaning Teneille is not there as a clinical midwife, but will look after your emotional and physical needs throughout labour and birth. Postnatal care

Once you have discharged home from the hospital (which can be as soon as 6 hours post birth if all is medically well), Teneille can provide private midwifery care within the comfort of your own home. Teneille will visit as often as you need after you have your new baby! Teneille can come daily for the first few days, then weekly up until 8 weeks. The scheduling is flexible depending on the level of support you require! Teneille is also available between visits for phone consults, which are all bulk-billed. Postnatal appointments include education, breastfeeding/feeding support, a check of you (including wound checks if applicable) and weighing and checking your baby. Teneille can also do the 48 hour blue book newborn checks and the newborn screening test for you. TENs machine hire

Coffs Coast Midwifery has an early labour kit complete with the best TENs machine that will help you through labour. The kit also has a birth comb, spiky ball and some birth affirmation cards for inspiration. Hire is $100 which includes the disposable electrode pads. Hire covers you from 37 weeks gestation until you birth your baby.
